Self-checkout for efterskoler and folk high schools
The tuck shop opens without a teacher.
Evening study, the break after the late lesson, a Sunday with nothing on. Bippa lets students buy a soda or a chocolate bar from the school fridge whenever the common room is open, without a teacher on duty behind a counter.
Sounds familiar?
The kiosk opens when a teacher can
Whoever is on evening duty also has to sell sweets, count change and lock up. On a busy night the kiosk simply stays shut.
Cash among a hundred teenagers
Coins go missing, change runs out, and a tin in the common room is a temptation nobody should have to watch over.
Nobody knows what the kiosk earns
It pays for the end-of-year party, but nobody can say what it took this year or what the stock cost.
How it works
1
Put the code on the fridge or the shelf
One sticker in the common room. The price list opens in the browser, with no app to install.
2
Students scan what they take
Their own phone, the school's prices. It takes a few seconds between lessons.
3
MobilePay pays the school
One tap. The money goes to the school's or the student council's own account, and the stock goes down.
What it costs
Nothing for one kiosk and up to five staff or council members. 99 kr a month if you outgrow that. Bippa never takes a cut, so what the kiosk earns stays with the students.
See what is in each planWhat the school asks
Can every student pay?
MobilePay has its own age rules, so some of the youngest students may not have it. In practice most do, and those who do not can pay through a friend or a teacher.
Can the student council run it?
Yes. Council members get their own logins with permission to restock and set prices, while the money stays visible only to the staff member responsible. Roles decide who sees what.
Can we have a fridge in each house?
Yes. Each fridge or shelf is its own point of sale with its own code. The free plan covers one, the paid plan up to 10.
Does it work at a folk high school?
Just as well. The students are adults, so the age question goes away, and the café or the evening fridge can run without a member of staff.
Does Bippa work with Vipps?
Yes. MobilePay is renamed Vipps on 12 January 2027: same app, same agreement, same account. The students pay exactly as they do today, and nothing changes in Bippa or in the school's setup.
