Self-checkout for climbing gyms

Nobody on the desk. The chalk is still for sale.

Many climbing walls are run by a club, opened with a key fob and kept going by volunteers who would rather be on the wall. Bippa puts the chalk, the tape and the fridge on a QR code, so climbers pay with MobilePay whether or not anyone is behind the desk.

Sounds familiar?

The desk is only staffed at peak hours

Somebody sells chalk on Tuesday evenings. The rest of the week the box sits behind a locked counter while people climb with nothing on their hands.

Guests do not know the system

Members know the tin is on the shelf. A guest who came along with a friend has no cash, no idea who to ask, and leaves without the tape they needed.

The stock lives in one person's head

The volunteer who orders the chalk knows roughly how much is left. When they are away, the club finds out it has run out from a climber.

How it works

1

A sticker on the shelf

On the chalk shelf, the fridge, the box of tape. The QR code opens your price list in the browser, and nobody installs anything.

2

Climbers tap what they take

Their own phone, your prices. Anything with a barcode can be scanned, and a scoop of loose chalk or a roll of tape is a tap on the list.

3

MobilePay does the rest

One tap. The sale is recorded, the stock goes down, and the money goes to the club's or the gym's own account.

What it costs

Nothing for one place to sell from and up to 5 volunteers. A climbing club selling at cost is on Community at 99 kr a month, and a commercial gym selling to earn is on Business at 399 kr. Bippa never takes a cut of what you sell.

What climbing gyms ask

Can we sell loose chalk by the scoop?

Yes, as long as it has a price. Bippa sells by the item, so a scoop, a chalk ball and a bag each get their own product and price.

What about rental shoes?

Bippa is for selling, not lending. A pair of rental shoes that comes back is not a sale, so rentals stay wherever you handle them today.

Several volunteers run the shop.

Every count and every restock is recorded with who did it and when. Roles decide who can restock and who can see the money.

What if someone takes chalk without paying?

Bippa cannot stop that, and it does not pretend to. Every sale comes off the stock, so a gap shows at the next count rather than at the annual accounts.

Do guests need an account?

No. The QR code opens an ordinary web page, and they pay with the MobilePay already on their phone.

Does Bippa work with Vipps?

Yes. MobilePay is renamed Vipps on 12 January 2027: same app, same agreement, same account. Climbers pay exactly as they do today, and nothing changes in Bippa or in your setup.

Sell on the quiet evenings too.

Create your club or gym, add what you sell, print the QR code.
