Self-checkout for farm shops
The stall by the road, without the tin.
Potatoes in bags, eggs by the ten, strawberries in June and a jar of honey all year. Bippa gives the stall a price list on the customer's own phone and a MobilePay payment that says what was bought. The honour system stays, and now you can see what was paid for.
Sounds familiar?
Nobody carries exact change
Most customers have no coins, and the MobilePay number on the sign gets a round 50 kroner, usually without a note. Nobody can tell whether it paid for eggs or potatoes.
The tin is an invitation
A cash box by the road gets emptied by somebody who is not a customer. The fewer coins there are in it, the less there is to lose.
You only know what sold by counting what is left
At the end of the day you count the shelf, guess what was paid for and write it in a notebook. In strawberry season that is a second job.
How it works
1
Put the poster on the stall
Print the QR code and pin it up, laminated if it rains. There is nothing to plug in, so the stall can stand at the end of the drive with no power.
2
Customers tap what they take
The code opens your price list in their browser. Eggs and potatoes are a tap on the list, and a jar with a barcode can be scanned.
3
MobilePay does the rest
One tap. The money lands in the farm's own account, and the sale is recorded with what it was for.
What it costs
One stall is free, with up to 25 products, which is enough for a typical farm stand. If you sell from several stalls or the shop outgrows that, it is 399 kr a month. Bippa never takes a cut of what you sell.
See what is in each planWhat farm shops ask
We sell by weight.
Bippa sells by the item, at a fixed price. Most stalls already do: a bag of potatoes, a punnet of strawberries, a bunch of carrots. Weigh and bag it in the morning, and give each size its own price.
Can we keep the cash box?
Yes. Bippa never counts cash, so a tin for coins can stay next to the poster. Whatever is in it simply stays outside Bippa's figures.
Our prices change with the season.
Change a price in Bippa and the stall shows it the next time someone scans. Take the strawberries off sale in August and put them back in June, without printing a new poster.
What if the signal is poor?
The customer's phone needs mobile data to open the price list and pay. Check the signal at the stall before you print the poster.
What if someone takes a bag without paying?
Bippa cannot stop that, any more than the tin could. Every sale comes off the stock, so when you count up in the evening, Bippa shows the difference between what should be left and what is. A gap shows on the day, not at the end of the season.
Does Bippa work with Vipps?
Yes. MobilePay is renamed Vipps on 12 January 2027: same app, same agreement, same account. Customers pay exactly as they do today, and nothing changes in Bippa or in the farm's setup.
