Self-checkout for housing associations
The common house fridge, open every evening.
Communal dinners, the summer party, the room booked for a birthday. Bippa lets residents buy a drink from the common house fridge whenever they are there, and gives the committee a record it can put in front of the annual meeting.
Sounds familiar?
The money goes through someone's own phone
The committee member with the MobilePay number is also the one asked about it at the annual meeting, and they cannot tell their own transfers from the fridge's.
The committee changes every year
The person who knew the routine was not re-elected, and nobody wrote it down. The new committee starts with a fridge, a tin and no idea what was in either.
Residents ask where the money went
Everyone pays towards the common house, and everyone is entitled to ask. A tin and a good memory is a hard answer to give.
How it works
1
Put the code on the common house fridge
One sticker on the door. Residents open the price list in the browser, with no app and no account.
2
Residents scan what they take
Their own phone, the committee's prices. It works at the communal dinner and at eleven at night after the party.
3
The money goes to the association
MobilePay pays the association's own account, and every sale is on a list the whole committee can see.
What it costs
Nothing for one fridge and up to five committee members. 99 kr a month if you outgrow that. Bippa never takes a cut of what the fridge sells.
See what is in each planWhat the committee asks
Can a resident who rents the common house use the fridge?
Yes. Whoever has booked the room scans and pays like anyone else, so the fridge does not need to be emptied or locked before a private party.
What happens when the committee changes?
Every committee member has their own login. When someone steps down they are removed and the next person is invited, and the sales history and stock stay where they were.
Can we sell beer at the summer party?
You can put anything in the fridge, but an unattended fridge checks nobody's age. Most associations keep alcohol behind a staffed bar on the day.
Do residents need an app?
No. The QR code opens an ordinary web page, and MobilePay is already on their phone.
Does Bippa work with Vipps?
Yes. MobilePay is renamed Vipps on 12 January 2027: same app, same agreement, same account. Residents pay exactly as they do today, and nothing changes in Bippa or in the association's setup.
