Self-checkout for student halls
Retire the tally sheet.
A crate of beer in the kitchen fridge, a sheet of paper with everyone's name, and a line for every bottle. Bippa replaces the tally with a QR code: residents pay as they take, and the kitchen or the hall bar never has to chase anyone again.
Sounds familiar?
Nobody settles the tally sheet
At the end of the month someone has to count the marks, work out who owes what and send forty MobilePay requests. It is usually the same person, and they are tired of it.
Somebody always fronts the money
One resident buys the crates and waits weeks to be paid back, by people who have half-forgotten what they drank.
People move out owing money
The semester ends, the room is handed over, and three lines on the sheet leave with the people who made them.
How it works
1
Put the code on the kitchen fridge
One sticker. It opens the kitchen's price list in the browser, with no app and no sign-up for residents.
2
Residents scan what they take
Their own phone, the kitchen's prices. A beer at midnight takes as long to pay for as it does to open.
3
The money goes straight to the kitchen
MobilePay pays the kitchen's or the hall's own account the moment the bottle comes out. There is nothing to settle at the end of the month.
What it costs
Nothing for one fridge and up to five people running it. 99 kr a month if the whole hall joins in. Bippa never takes a cut of what the fridge sells.
See what is in each planWhat the kitchen asks
Whose MobilePay should it be?
An account that belongs to the kitchen or the residents' association, not to whichever resident set it up. Otherwise the money moves out when they do.
Can each kitchen have its own fridge?
Yes. Each kitchen is its own point of sale with its own code. The free plan covers one, the paid plan up to 10, which is enough for a hall bar and a handful of kitchens.
Can we sell beer?
Yes, it is your fridge. Bippa checks nobody's age, so selling alcohol responsibly stays with the kitchen or the hall, as it did with the tally sheet.
Does anyone have to keep track of stock?
Every sale takes the item off the stock, so the overview shows when the beer is running low. Whoever does the shopping sees it before the weekend rather than on Friday night.
Does Bippa work with Vipps?
Yes. MobilePay is renamed Vipps on 12 January 2027: same app, same agreement, same account. Residents pay exactly as they do today, and nothing changes in Bippa or in the hall's setup.
