The camera will not scan
iPhones cannot read barcodes in the browser, and other phones need permission. Either way, searching by name gets the same result.
Bippa reads barcodes with the phone's browser, no app. That works on Android phones in Chrome. It does not work on iPhones, whose browsers cannot read barcodes yet, and it needs the camera's permission everywhere.
On an iPhone
The camera does not appear at all and the page says the browser cannot use the camera to scan. This is Safari, not Bippa, and it applies to buying, adding products and restocking alike.
- Buying: tap Search for a product and type the name, or the number printed under the barcode. Typing the full number adds it straight away.
- Adding a product: type the number into Barcode. The lookup that fills in the name works from the typed number too.
- Restocking: use Search for a product and pick each product by name.
"The camera was blocked"
The browser asked for the camera once and the answer was no. Allow it in the browser's site settings, usually behind the lock icon in the address bar, and reload. Or type the number below the frame instead.
"The camera would not start"
Another app or tab is using it. Close the other one and reload.
It scans but says "That is not sold here"
The barcode is not on any product in the club. Tell a volunteer the number shown, and they can add it. See Add a product. Until then the buyer can still search by name if the product exists under another barcode.
It scans but nothing happens
Hold the barcode still, a hand's length from the camera, in good light. Curved cans scan better held straight on. If the barcode is scratched, type the number.
