Getting started with Bippa

Create your account and your club's space, add what you sell, connect MobilePay and put the code on the fridge. About twenty minutes, most of it waiting for the kettle.

Bippa is built around a space. One space is one club, parish or workplace and everything it sells: the products, the places it sells from, the people who look after the stock and the money that comes in. Most people belong to one space.

This guide takes you from nothing to a fridge that sells.

1. Create your account

  1. Go to Create account.
  2. Enter your Name and Email and click Create account.
  3. Open the email called "Log in to Bippa" and click Log in to Bippa.

There is no password. Every time you log in, Bippa sends a link to your email. It works for 15 minutes and only once. See Log in without a password.

2. Create a space

The first time you log in you land on No spaces yet. Click Create a space, give it a Name (the club's own name works best, since buyers see it on the poster) and click Create space.

You become the space's Owner. It starts on the Free plan, which needs no card: one place to sell from, five people and 25 products. See Plans and what they include.

3. Work through the checklist

The Overview page opens with a card called Before the first sale. It has three steps and disappears once they are done:

  • Add what the club sells. Click Open products and add the sodas and snacks already in the fridge. Scanning a barcode fills most of it in. See Add a product.
  • Connect MobilePay. Click Connect to open the Payment accounts settings. This needs an online MobilePay agreement, not the box on the counter, and the settings page explains how to get one. See Connect the club's MobilePay.
  • Put a code on the fridge. Click Open points of sale, add the fridge as a point of sale and print its poster. See Add a point of sale and print the poster.

The order does not matter. Buyers can scan the code before MobilePay is connected; they just cannot pay yet.

4. Put the stock in

Once the products exist, click Restock in the left menu, scan each thing as it goes into the fridge and click Put things in. From then on every sale takes the count down on its own. See Restock the fridge.

What happens next

  • A buyer scans the poster, scans what they take and pays with MobilePay. The money goes straight to the club's own account; Bippa never holds it.
  • The Overview shows what sold and what is running low.
  • Every Thursday morning the people who look after stock and money get an email with the week's takings and a shopping list.

Put a sticker on the fridge this weekend.

Create your club, add the products you already sell, print the QR code. Bippa is not a point-of-sale and never touches cash, so there is nothing else to set up.
